Het is alweer 8 maanden geleden dat het LOCA Congres 2011 een groot succes was. Inmiddels werkt een nieuw team vol enthousiaste coassistenten al aan het congres van 2013! Voorlopig moet er nog veel bepaald worden, maar één ding staat al vast:
Het volgende congres zal plaatsvinden op 12, 13 en 14 april 2013!

In 1986 he began his training in general internal medicine at the Rode Kruis Ziekenhuis at The Hague under the supervision of Dr. Overbosch, and completed his training at the Leiden Academic Hospital under the supervision of Prof Dr. Meinders in 1991. In that same year, he started his PhD research, resulting in 1994 in a thesis entitled "The prognosis in patients with an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest” (promotor Prof. Dr. A.E. Meinders).
In 1991 he became a fellow in intensive care at the Leiden Academic Hospital, and was subsequently registered, in 1993, as an intensivist. From 1993 up to and including 1997 he was the head of the department of intensive care at Leiden University Medical Centre. From that time onwards until December 2003, he held that same position at the Jeroen Bosch Medical Centre at ’s Hertogenbosch.
On 9 January 2003, he delivered his inaugural address at Nijmegen entitled: “De grenzen voorbij, terug naar de toekomst “ (Beyond the borders, back to the future). As of that date, he has held the position of head of the Department of Intensive Care at the University Medical Centre St. Radboud at Nijmegen. Since then, he has been the (primary) supervisor of a number of PhD theses. Research focus: lung trauma induced by artificial respiration, congenital immune response in sepsis, acute cerebral disorder and trauma.Hans van der Hoeven is chairman of the congress committee of the Dutch Association for Intensive Care (Nederlandse Vereniging Intensive Care or NVIC), Course director of Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) and a member of the Joint Intensive Care Committee (Gemeenschappelijke Intensive Care Commissie or GICC).
